Annual Taste of Research Event Held

Meredith College held its annual Taste of Research event on Monday, Sept. 8, in Carlyle Campbell Library, allowing student researchers to share poster presentations of their summer work.

“This event is a way to celebrate the research that was conducted as part of our summer research program while also showcasing the undergraduate research opportunities available at Meredith,” said Director of Undergraduate Research Whitney Ross Manzo.

Fourteen posters were included in the Taste of Research event. Academic areas represented included biology, chemistry, communication, history, political science, religion, and social work. Each project was conducted with the support of a faculty mentor.

Topics ranged from “Zosimos Translation Project: On the Letter Omega” and “Gratitude Reflections to Improve Student Well-Being” to “Perceptions of Police Integrated Response Teams – ACORNS,” and “The Gender Pay Gap: Comparing Government Policy in the U.S., U.K., and Russia.”

Manzo said the Taste of Research event allowed students to “see the wide range of possibilities when it comes to undergraduate research.”

The event provided students with an opportunity to discuss their research and answer questions from students, faculty, and staff. Students in attendance could also get information about upcoming research grant opportunities.
